When Jiva founders were introduced to fabric made from bamboo we realized that this supple material was ideal for activewear.  Not only is it one of the softest and most breathable fabrics, but its advantages as a sustainable resource are almost unmatched.  Bamboo plants grow very quickly and require no fertilizer or pesticides.  They are also self-replenishing and thus a renewable resource.  Additionally, bamboo releases oxygen into the atmosphere, even more so than trees!  Planting bamboo can help reduce the level of carbon dioxide in the air as well as the risk of soil erosion and desertisation. 

Organic cotton practices and manual farming produce a significantly lower carbon footprint than standard cotton farming.  The process consumes less fuel and the cotton is grown with natural rather than synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.  Organic cotton is safer and healthier for farmers and encourages just economic systems in the supply chain. 

Using these sustainable materials, Jiva has created a line of activewear that is sustainable, flattering and fun to wear.
